Tue 5/15: Zomboy + Friends at The Roxy

Posted on May 8, 2012 by Deco in Dubstep, Events.

My friends at Bassrush and Circle Talent Agency have teamed up with Never Say Die Records to present a free show for LA’s bass music community and the lineup is certainly one to impress. Zomboy is headlining in his first ever LA performance, finally meeting the pent-up demand of his SoCal fans for a live show. Also on the lineup are Schoolboy, Cyberoptics, Seven Lions, and yours truly.

It all goes down Tuesday May 15th and you can get in to the show FREE by RSVPing.

Update May 14th: Unfortunately Zomboy won’t be making it to the US for his current tour, so moombahton fixture ETC!ETC has been added to the bill. Here’s the full statement from Circle Talent Agency:

We hope everyone is excited for the BASS UNION free show on Tuesday at the Roxy! Unfortunately, Zomboy will no longer be able to attend the show tomorrow due to US visa complications. However, we are extremely excited to be able to move forward with this showcase and present bone crushing sets from SCHOOLBOY, CYBEROPTICS, SEVEN LIONS, DECO, and super special guest ETC!ETC!

This show is going to be an ear-splintering explosion of bass music and we expect a capacity crowd! Please get there early as this show is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE and we expect the doors to be slammed early! Get your bass face on and get ready to rage!

I’m looking forward to being on the May 6th lineup with the Tempa label’s own J:Kenzo, Mesck and Kelly Dean for what promises to be a great night of dubstep on the deep end of the spectrum.

Thu 4/19: CANCELLED – Sub Focus + Friends at Fonda Theatre

Posted on Apr 10, 2012 by Deco in Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Events.

Update 4/19: Sorry readers, I was notified that this event has been cancelled. You can still catch Sub Focus performing tonight alongside Nero, Zedd and Dillon Francis at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles.

2012 has been a great year so far and the Spring season shows no signs of slowing down. On that note, I’m really happy to announce that I’m part of the “Coachella week” festivities when many of the artists performing at the festival will be holding their own solo events around LA in the days between the two Coachella weekends. Thanks to the awesome crew at Bassrush, I’ll be performing alongside Sub Focus at the newly-reopened Fonda Theatre on Thursday April 19th with my very close friends Kill The Noise and Bro Safari.

The event is 18+ and you can snag your advance tickets below. I’m really glad the Fonda Theatre venue is returning to the live music rotation in LA and I’m extra stoked to be on a bill with such talented artists!

Deco at SXSW

Posted on Feb 28, 2012 by Deco in Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Events, Music Industry.

Yes, I’m finally attending a music conference again! I’ll be on the ground at SXSW this year representing for Deceast in a variety of ways. First up, I’m really happy to be performing at Stateside Bass Sessions on Wednesday March 14th, presented by Austin’s own SUB.CONSCIOUS crew. It’s going down at Plush ATX, a club/lounge venue in downtown Austin and features an all-star lineup of America’s finest bass music artists: Evol Intent, Quadrant, Submorphics, LeDoom, Sinistarr and many more. You can see the full lineup and get all the details at the official Facebook event page.

Second up, I want to meet all the people I can! If you’re reading this and you’ll be in Austin, we should try to meet up. Contact me here, or hit me up on Twitter, SoundCloud or Facebook. I’ll be in Austin from Tuesday March 13th to Saturday March 17th and I hope to meet some new folks and re-connect with friends who are usually scattered all over the planet!

Photos: Knife Party + Friends at The Wiltern

Posted on Feb 28, 2012 by Deco in Events, Photography.

Knife Party’s sold-out show at The Wiltern was easily the best gig I’ve played so far in 2012 — granted, it’s only February, but the size of the show and the lineup of quality talent made it one to remember. I was honored to perform alongside Codes, Kill The Noise and Knife Party and luckily there were some photographers on hand to document the occasion.

Photos: Deceast at SMOG Sundays

My friend Thai brought his camera out to SMOG Sundays a couple weekends ago when the Deceast crew handled musical duties for the evening. I really like his photos, especially his lack of relying on flash photography. In my opinion, the whole flash thing has become a problem in nightlife photography and I applaud photographers who know how to shoot in low-light conditions. I think flash-free photos capture the vibe of the event better and go a long way to avoiding the generic look of most galleries you see filled with nightclub pictures.

Wed 3/28: Funktion w/ Koan Sound, Gemini, Deco

Posted on Feb 11, 2012 by Deco in Dubstep, Events.

Bassrush’s Funktion Wednesdays heads back to Avalon for another large-scale session and I’m glad to be along for the ride. On March 28th I’ll be playing alongside Koan Sound, Foreign Beggars and Gemini, a lineup that promises to showcase plenty of high-quality yet diverse bass music from start to finish. Without over-hyping it, I do think this night has a chance of selling out in advance, so I’d suggest purchasing advance tickets using the link below.

Sun 3/18: Hospitality Tour w/ High Contrast, Netsky, Deco

Posted on Feb 11, 2012 by Deco in Drum & Bass, Events.

Hospital Records, one of my all-time favorite record labels, is bringing their premier club night Hospitality to Los Angeles for the first time. In celebration of Hospital’s 15th Anniversary, some of the label’s biggest names will be touring the US to spread their signature melodic drum & bass style.

The LA date features High Contrast, Netsky and Dynamite MC alongside sets from Denver’s DJ Fury and I. I’m really looking forward to this one as I spent the formative years of my time as a DJ playing liquid funk and other styles of lighter drum & bass. You can secure presale tickets by purchasing through Flavorus.

If you’re not in Los Angeles, Hospitality is touring all over North America, so make sure to check out the full itinerary.
