Sat Feb. 18th: Knife Party + Friends at The Wiltern

Posted on Feb 7, 2012 by Deco in Events.

I’m super excited to be joining Knife Party on the bill for their debut Los Angeles performance at The Wiltern on February 18th. Also on the lineup are my good friend Kill The Noise and Slow Roast Records‘ newest signing, Codes. We’re all looking forward to bringing our signature styles to this historic LA venue and I’m especially interested to see what sort of music and live presence Knife Party brings.

If you haven’t yet gotten acquainted with this Pendulum side project, you can download Knife Party’s debut EP for free via their website.

The show is nearly sold out, however Live Nation still has some tickets available as of this writing. Update 2/14: Live Nation tickets are sold out as well.

Also, Knife Party’s booking agency AM Only will be running a ticket giveaway contest, so keep an eye on their Twitter feed for details on that.

Atlantic Connection in 2012

Posted on Jan 20, 2012 by Deco in News.

Atlantic Connection

My good friend and label mate Atlantic Connection is starting 2012 off with a new single on Deceast, some free music giveaways and a few emerging details about his upcoming album. In his own words:

One of the reasons I enjoy living in LA so much is the constant growth of electronic music. A good friend of mine Deco (some of you may know of him from his Atlanta days) started up a label last year called Deceast Records, focusing on futuristic bass music. Early last year I was really starting to experiment with different tempo’s and styles and I’m proud to say Deceast was the first label to embrace my new vibes; we did a well-received garage-ish single “Take My Number / No Explanations”. Coming back around to now is a follow up single with dubstep artist NumberNin6 backed by my track “Set Me Free.”

In addition to his upcoming single, A.C. just released his bootleg of The Weeknd’s “The Morning” which you can check out below.

Lastly, Atlantic Connection tells me that all of the demos for his next album are finished and that he’s currently meeting with labels to find an appropriate outlet for the LP. So far, it contains 15 songs in a variety of genres and features a number of guests — scarce info for now I’m afraid, but I’m sure more disclosures will be coming soon. There is currently no release date.

Introducing Other Echoes

Posted on Jan 16, 2012 by Deco in News.

Nick Gresham is starting off 2012 with a big change and some news about a new music project he’s started. After two singles on Deceast under the Bastille moniker, Nick has retired that project and he’s starting fresh with Other Echoes, a new persona that will be continuing the musical lineage he started under the previous name. He’s already fast at work on a string of releases that will be seeing release later this year, including new material for Deceast. To help spark interest, he’s also giving away “Last Rights”, a free track that gives you a glimpse of what’s to come from Other Echoes. To snag your copy, head over to his Facebook and hit the Like button, you’ll then get a download link for the track. You can also keep up with everything he’s up to at the following locations:

Other Echoes on Facebook
Other Echoes on Twitter
Other Echoes on SoundCloud

For our Swiss readers, don’t miss Other Echoes’ debut live performance in Basel on February 4th. More info can be had via Facebook.

I’m really looking forward to hearing what directions Nick will explore under the new moniker and I can’t wait to share more of his work for Deceast with you in the near future.

Feb 1st: Deco at Funktion Wednesdays

Posted on Jan 13, 2012 by Deco in Events.

I’ll be playing my first gig of 2012 on February 1st as the Shogun Audio tour featuring Friction, Icicle and Armanni Reign stops in Los Angeles at Funktion Wednesdays. I’m pretty excited about this show as I have a lot of new music to play, both from myself and other Deceast artists. I’m also really looking forward to hearing what Friction and Icicle bring to the night as it’s been a while since either of them have performed in LA. Icicle has been putting out some of his best work lately and I’m still enjoying listening to his album “Under The Ice”. Friction has curated Shogun Audio with an attention to detail seldom seen in bass music and we’re guaranteed to hear all sorts of forthcoming Shogun material during this tour stop.

Photos: Rusko at Funktion Wednesdays

Posted on Jan 9, 2012 by Deco in Events, Photography.

Bassrush kicked off the return of Funktion Wednesdays last week with a sold-out Rusko show at The Music Box and plenty of photographers were on-hand to document the premier. Highlight photos and links to the galleries are below.

An unfortunate side note is that it looks like this could be the last show at The Music Box for a while. As reported by LAist and LA Weekly, the Los Angeles music community was caught off guard by the surprise closing of the venue last week, leaving Funktion Wednesdays without a venue. No alternate venue has been announced yet, although I’ve heard that Bassrush will actually be splitting the upcoming Wednesday events between Avalon and Dim Mak Studios until a new, permanent location can be secured.

The Return of Funktion Wednesdays

Posted on Dec 30, 2011 by Deco in Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Events.

The Return of Funktion Wednesdays
The weekly drum & bass event presented by Bassrush is back in 2012 with a new location, an expanded format and the same quality control as the original club night that went on hiatus back in 2008. The Music Box in Hollywood is the new home of Funktion and the venue features all kinds of nice touches such as a massive sound system, a rooftop bar / lounge and capacity for up to 1500 attendees. While the original weekly event focused only on drum & bass, this latest incarnation of Funktion will incorporate all types of bass music while maintaining the night’s drum & bass roots.

It all kicks off on January 4th, 2012 and the first month’s lineup is nothing short of ridiculous. Longtime drum & bass champions like DJ Hype and Dieselboy will be gracing the decks alongside members of the new generation of bass music artists such as Rusko and Downlink.

UPDATE 1/4: Tonight’s Funktion featuring Rusko is sold out — there may be a few tickets available for purchase at the door, early arrival is highly suggested.

UPDATE 1/7: LAist, LA Weekly and others report that The Music Box, the venue where Funktion Wednesdays is being held, has closed. I’m not sure what this means for the future of the event but once I have more information I’ll share it here.

Update 1/10: As reported by LAist and LA Weekly, the Los Angeles music community was caught off guard by the surprise closing of the venue last week, leaving Funktion Wednesdays without a venue. Introducing Funktion Las Vegas

In addition to the weekly event in Los Angeles, Funktion will also be coming to Las Vegas once a month to rattle the Hard Rock Cafe on the strip with copious amounts of sub-bass frequencies. The first Funktion Las Vegas takes place on Thursday January 4th and features Dieselboy, John B, Messinian and more.

Fri 9/23: Deco at Nocturnal Wonderland

Posted on Sep 14, 2011 by Deco in Events.

Nocturnal Wonderland is back in a new 2-day expanded format and I’m happy to once again be a part of the amazing lineup! I’ll be performing Friday on the Sunken Garden stage alongside bass luminaries like DJ Marky, Calyx & Teebee, S.P.Y. and Icicle. The event takes place Friday 9/23 and Saturday 9/24 at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, CA. The trailer was just released today and you can check it below:

Last year’s Nocturnal event sold out, so if you want to attend I’d suggest picking up your tickets in advance.
